The KSD 140 Jazz Ensemble performed a stellar set at the Prairie State College Jazz Festival on Thursday, February 20. The band played "Little Sunflower," "S'Wonderful," and "Stolen Moments." After the performance, the band received a clinic from world-renowned jazz trumpeter Orbert Davis and drummer Ernie Adams, who had just returned from their tour in Cuba. The students were then treated to a performance by the clinicians. Dr. Davis and Dr. Adams were so impressed with the group's high level of performance and musicianship that they asked two of the band members, trumpeter Ella Mae W. and saxophonist Ben B., to come out and perform with the pros at Friday Night's concert at the PSC auditorium. What an honor!
The Jazz Ensemble's next performance will be Tuesday, March 11, at the Andrew Jazz Concert at 7 p.m. in the PAC. Come out and support our talented musicians!"
