Heat Advisory Precautions

Heat Advisory August 23-24

Due to the excessive heat forecasted for Wednesday, August 23, and Thursday, August 24, District 140 is taking precautions to help ensure our students remain safe.

  • P.E. classes and elementary recess periods will be held indoors in our air-conditioned buildings on Wednesday and Thursday.
  • D140 buses do not have air conditioning. All bus windows will remain open as they transport students home from school. If your child is a bus rider, please consider packing extra water for their trip home.
  • Please encourage your child to hydrate and speak to an adult if they experience any heat stroke or heat exhaustion symptoms, such as dizziness, throbbing headache, nausea, rapid pulse, or muscle cramps.

We also anticipate increased car riders at all buildings due to the heat. Your patience and support are appreciated as we work together to prioritize our students' well-being.

Please don’t hesitate to contact your child’s school with any questions or concerns.

Thank you, and stay cool!
