As part of Project RIDE (Reinforcement in Drug Education), seventh-grade students in KSD 140 recently met with representatives from the Tinley Park Police Department. The purpose of Project RIDE is to raise awareness and provide education on several important topics, including internet safety, tobacco/vaping/marijuana prevention, peer jury, and underage drinking awareness. Students also participated in team-building activities for the second part of the day.
Research strongly supports the view that relevant and ongoing drug education programs in schools delivered by teachers and supported by agencies, resources, and the local community are the most effective form of information and prevention. Working together with parents and the broader community, KSD 140's Project RIDE program promotes the development of active and responsible decision-making skills among young people.
