Middle school students from Grissom and Prairie View competed for the first time in the American Mathematics Competition for 8th Graders (AMC 8). The AMC 8 is a challenging national math competition hosted by the Mathematical Association of America.
The competition featured over 80,000 bright middle school mathematical minds. District 140 was proud to have ten students compete and showcase their mathematical talents.

Emmett W.
Gab P., Cody T., and William B. scored in the top 25% of all competitors, while Atala S. and Emmett W. scored in the top 10%. Emmett W. also earned the AMC 8 Certificate of Achievement as a 6th-grade student, achieving an exceptional score in a competition designed for 8th-grade students.
Additionally, Grissom Middle School earned the School Certificate of Merit for their team performance.
