Coached by Mr. John Kamphuis and Ms.Tonie Wasco, the team competed against eleven other southwest suburban teams in six categories. Each member took home individual medals in the competition.

Earning first-place medals were eighth-grader Emma A. in Dramatic Interpretation and eighth-grader Emelia D. in the category of Prose. Taking home second place medals were eighth-grader Elizabeth B. in the category of Verse. Third-place medals earned by sixth-grader Alex H. in Humorous Interpretation, sixth-grader Olivia C. in Oratorical Declamation, and eighth-graders Hunter B. and Caden W. in Humorous Duet.

Declamation is a highly competitive speech team offering students the opportunity to express themselves persuasively, comedically, oratorically, and theatrically in six different categories: Humorous Duet, Verse Interpretation, Prose Interpretation, Dramatic Interpretation, Humorous Interpretation, and Oratorical Declamation. Performance selections are at least three minutes to seven minutes in length.  Judging criteria for each category includes vocal variety, eye contact, gestures, and articulation.
