We are notifying D140 families about an incident that occurred near Keller Elementary School this morning. While walking to school along Nottingham Drive, a fifth grade Keller student was tapped on the shoulder from behind by a man wearing a winter face mask. The man continued on his way; no further interaction with our student occurred.
The student ran away and called their parent who promptly notified the police and the school.
No allegation of criminal behavior was alleged; however, the Tinley Park Police Department is investigating the incident and patrols will be increased in the area as a precautionary measure.
As always, the safety of our students is our top priority. We are sharing this information proactively with our families and asking that you remind your children to embrace the “see something, say something” message as we all work together to keep our students safe.
If you have any questions or concerns, please contact your school office for assistance.
