Winning the annual Fire Prevention Poster Contest has its perks. On Monday, November 7, McAuliffe Elementary’s fifth-grader Aaron M. was awarded a ride to school aboard a Tinley Park fire truck for his winning grade-level submission in the city-wide contest.
As part of National Fire Prevention Week, the Tinley Park Fire Department holds a poster contest each fall and invites students to depict their version of what it takes to be safe and smart in the case of a fire. This year’s theme was “Fire Won’t Wait. Plan Your Escape.”
