Ms. Sandra Forlenza
Reading Specialist
Hello!
If you are wondering how to help your child become a better reader I strongly encourage you to have them read! Get a public library card and have your child check out books that interest him/her. If a book is too difficult but your child is interested in the topic, read it to him/her. Help your child see that reading can be done for pleasure and enjoyment. Make sure they see you reading!
When a child is reading he/she is applying all the reading skills (sight words, decoding, using context clues, comprehension strategies, vocabulary, etc.) It is truly the best practice there is!
“The more that you read, the more things you will know. The more that you learn, the more places you’ll go.” ~ Dr. Seuss
