Congratulations to Ashley N., a Grissom Declamation team member who tied for third place in Humorous Interpretation at the Southwest Interscholastic Conference (SWIC) competition held at Grissom Middle School on March 17.
Declamation is a highly competitive speech team offering students the opportunity to express themselves persuasively, comedically, oratorically, and theatrically in six different categories: Humorous Duet Acting, Verse Interpretation, Prose Interpretation, Dramatic Interpretation, Humorous Interpretation, and Oratorical Declamation. Performance selections are at least three minutes to seven minutes in length. Judging criteria for each category includes vocal variety, eye contact, gestures, and articulation.
