Beginning with the 2019-20 school year, educator Karyn Bissell will join KSD 140’s administrative team as the new Assistant Principal of Grissom Middle School.
Mrs. Bissell has a Bachelor of Science in Education degree from Saint Xavier University and two Master’s degrees in Curriculum and Instruction (Olivet Nazerine University) and Principal Preparation (Concordia University). She’s worked in Kirby School District 140 for the past twenty-three years and was most recently an eighth grade science teacher and Team Leader at Grissom. Before that, she was a teacher at Helen Keller in both primary and intermediate grades.
“I am so excited to take the next step in my career as Assistant Principal at Grissom Middle School,” said Mrs. Bissell. “I feel very strongly that families, teachers, paraprofessionals, and administration have to work as a team to meet the needs of each individual student.”
“It is truly a privilege to work in KSD140 and I will strive to promote a positive, challenging learning environment that is student-centered.”
Mrs. Bissell replaces former Assistant Principal Sandy Hutchinson who left Grissom to become the new Principal of Fernway Park Elementary School.
