The Illinois State Board of Education (ISBE) released Grissom’s annual School Report Card on Wednesday, October 31st. The Report Card shows how well our school is progressing on a wide range of educational goals, including preparing all students for success in college and career.
As part of the new support and accountability system that launched this year, ISBE has identified our school to receive targeted supports to accelerate our academic progress. We welcome this opportunity to build on the talent of our incredible teachers and staff and look forward to including parents, families, and community partners in the work ahead.
Each school’s Report Card also now includes a designation, a descriptor of how well our school is meeting the needs of all students. It is a snapshot, not a judgment, and represents one moment in time.
Grissom’s designation is Underperforming. This designation is based exclusively on one subgroup of students not meeting their targeted goals. Our Grissom staff, along with our Director of Special Education, is committed to providing resources to help improve the learning environment and outcomes for this subgroup. Improvement begins with taking an honest and comprehensive look at where we are, so we can chart the path to where we want to go.
We hold high expectations for all students, and we believe every student can meet our expectations with the right supports. Thank you for your continued partnership to ensure every child at Grissom is thriving!
