On April 18th, volunteers from the Oakbrook chapter of Trout Unlimited brought in live cold water stream specimens for Mrs. Bissell’s 8th grade team to interact with. Students learned about the insects’ characteristics and made connections to their natural habitat, realizing the impact humans have on the environment. The Bissell Team has been raising brown trout from eggs to fish as an effort to increase the trout’s survival rate. Students have been responsible for their upkeep and will soon be releasing them into a cold water stream in northern Illinois.
