GMS Students Excel at SWIC Declamation Competition

Congratulations to our GMS Declamation team on their performances at the Southwest Interscholastic Conference (SWIC) Competition on April 10th at Central Middle School. Two students medaled at the event. Nathaniel Howell placed second in Oratorical Reading and Nathaniel Cortez placed third in Dramatic Interpretation. Congratulations!

Declamation is a highly competitive speech team offering students the opportunity to express themselves persuasively, comedically, oratorically, and theatrically in six different categories: Humorous Duet Acting, Verse Interpretation, Prose Interpretation, Dramatic Interpretation, Humorous Interpretation, and Oratorical Declamation. Performance selections are at least three minutes to seven minutes in length. Judging criteria for each category includes vocal variety, eye contact, gestures, and articulation.
