GMS Students Participate in Hour of Code

Sixth, seventh, and eighth grade GMS students participated in the Hour of Code during the week of December 4-8.  Using applications such as Scratch, Hopscotch, Tickle, and Swift and activities found on Code.org, students were able to develop games utilizing blocks to create code.  The coding used was developed with advanced tools such as loops, goto commands, and if/then commands.

The Hour of Code takes place each year during Computer Science Education Week. It originally began as a one-hour introduction to computer science, designed to demystify "code", to show that anybody can learn the basics, and to broaden participation in the field of computer science. It has since become a global movement reaching tens of millions of students in 180 plus countries.
