Third through fifth grade students were recently treated to a Cryogenics Show featuring Mr. Freeze of Fermilab. Mr. Freeze discussed the fascinating field of supercooling by demonstrating the power of liquid nitrogen on items such as balloons, plastic bottles, and even flowers. There were many surprises, and even a couple of explosions!
Fermilab's Education Office supports entertaining and educational programming which provides avenues for technical staff to engage with students on the topics of scientific discovery, practical applications, and scientific and engineering practices. Because the next generation STEM workforce is in school today, their programs aim to strengthen teaching and learning in science, technology, engineering and mathematics.
