Mr. Plefka’s fifth grade class learned first-hand about water filtration by participating in an engineering challenge. Using beakers to represent an ecosystem, students had to create a water filtration system and pump water from a contaminated ecosystem, through their filtering system, and back into a clean ecosystem.
