Heat Advisory Precautions

Heat advisory precautions

Due to the excessive heat forecasted for Tuesday, August 27, District 140 is taking precautions to help ensure our students remain safe.

  • P.E. classes, elementary recess periods, and middle school sports tryouts/practices will be held indoors in our air-conditioned buildings.
  • D140 buses do not have air conditioning. All bus windows will remain open as they transport students home from school. If your child is a bus rider, please consider packing extra water or a refillable water bottle for their trip home.
  • Please encourage your child to hydrate and speak to an adult if they experience heat stroke or heat exhaustion symptoms, such as dizziness, throbbing headache, nausea, rapid pulse, or muscle cramps.

We also anticipate increased car riders at all buildings due to the heat. Your patience and support are appreciated as we work together to prioritize our students' well-being.

Please don’t hesitate to contact your child’s school with any questions or concerns.

Thank you, and stay cool!
