From the Principal
March 2010
ISAT testing for 3rd, 4th, and 5th grade takes place at the beginning of March. Please be sure your child is well rested and has a good breakfast. It is also very important for these students to be in their seats when school begins at 8:00. Students cannot enter a classroom where testing has already begun.
Student Safety
Thanks to those of you who are taking the safety of children seriously by following traffic laws and school procedures for arrival and dismissal. Unfortunately, reports of unsafe driving practices around our school continue.. Please remember that one minute of convenience is not worth injuring a child. Do not stop to drop your children off on 84th Avenue in the morning. Please either pull into our lot or park legally in a spot. It is unlawful to discharge passengers on the street. Several cars have also been reported backing out onto 84th Avenue at dismissal rather than following the line through the lot. This is also unlawful and dangerous. I watched one vehicle back out onto 84th Avenue and then do a U-turn! I have also received reports of speeding, U-turns and other unsafe practices when students are dropped off in neighborhoods near the school. Staff members have been asked to take down license plate numbers of offenders. If you see someone breaking traffic laws or endangering children, please feel free to contact me with their license plate number.
Spring Fever
We are anxious for warmer weather, sports, and other spring activities. School is still in session for several more months. Students have a lot to accomplish in the next few months. Please continue to assist your children by providing a quiet time and place for homework and leisure reading. If you don’t have library cards, a trip to the beautiful Tinley Park Library with the family would be a nice outing.
