ISAT
In April our students in grades 3, 5, 6 and 8 took the Illinois Standards Achievement Tests (ISAT) in Reading, and
Mathematics and students in grades 4 and 7 took ISAT tests in Reading, Mathematics and Science.
The ISAT data is a valuable yardstick for determining the annual progress of our students in meeting the Illinois Learning Standards.
It is an important tool to help enhance the quality of our schools and student achievement in Kirby School District 140. We are
proud of our students' efforts and progress on the 2006 ISAT.
However, any test, including the ISAT, is but a single measurement at a single point in time. It is most important that we continue
to implement the Illinois Learning Standards and make them the basis for classroom instruction. Students in our District who participated
in the ISAT testing in 2006 scored well beyond the state averages on all facets of the test.
In all subjects District 140 students that met or exceeded standards was 88% in comparison to the state average of 73%.
