5. identify the physical effect of these substances on the body

6. develop an awareness of the individual and social consequences of drug use

II. Alcohol

1. recognize different types of alcohol

2. understand the effects of alcohol on the body

3. recognize diseases and illnesses related to drinking

4. understand the history of alcohol consumption in the U.S. (we are a drinking society)
